An Interview for Artfulclub /  by Ivorin Vrkas

Troy Hall of Artfulclub just published an interview he did with me. Some interesting questions asked. Some, hopefully interesting, answers given on graphic design, visual identities and the like.

I believe Artfulclub is still starting up, so the article has a few formatting blunders, probably resulting from the site itself, so keep that in mind if you drop on over there for a peek.

The Interview

First Things First /  by Ivorin Vrkas

It is time for a change.

I have been living and working with outdated postulates, defining the way I define, experience and develop my practice.

Finding a nook of time I've gone through what I feel I need to communicate, both outwards and inwards, and have started to implement a new identity - if you will - for my practice.

Henceforth, I will be working under the pseudonym Atelier Ivorin -- I have made this choice for the enabling of an expansion of my practice to involve interns and/or junior authors/designers and create a more level playing field for collaboration with other artists.

It is also due time for me to refresh and define my own visual identity, for while the shoemakers shoes might be in the worst shape, I feel it is time to make this local saying more of an idiom, and less of a modus operandi.

This said, I am smashing the champagne bottle on my new website, built with the amazing Squarespace platform, and declaring a Hello World, for my blog.

As a post scriptum note (mostly to myself), I will do my best to finally devote a chunk time to documenting and materializing my thoughts and mental processes in the forms of a blog and an article collection.

The blog space will be, in general, dedicated to every-day news and lively snippets of eclectic information in some way relating to my practice. The articles will be geared towards creating genuine pieces of editorial content made to provide useful content to the reader. Things like guides, local design(er) walkthroughs + features and general design musings might find their way here.

Cheers,
I
